Airpods Pro 2, 6A238h Beta Firmware, with Active Noise Cancellation ON
These are the Eartips used for measurement.
- Airpods Pro 2 Original Eartip - M
- AZLA SednaEarfit MAX for Airpods Pro - MS
- AZLA Crystal for TWS - MS (paired with Adapter from AZLA SednaEarfit MAX for Airpods Pro)
AZLA Crystal TWS is not coming with a Adapter to make it fit with AirPods Pro, so I used the one from the AZLA SednaEarfit Max. Since AZLA Crystal does not have the hexagonal filter structure, it appears that an Adapter in 'AZLA Crystal for Airpods Pro' have slightly more dense mesh.
- There is no significant difference in sound between the Azra Max with the hexagonal filter structure and the Azra Crystal without filter structure.
- It seems that more of the sound change comes from the adapter, which allows you to attach regular eartips to the AirPods Pro
- However, for a set of ear tips that are by no means cheap, the quality of the Azra Max's adapter is somewhat disappointing.
- Some adapters have holes drilled in the top and bottom of the adapter like the original tips, while others have both holes sealed with a urethane coating, making it difficult to tell which ones are manufactured as intended.
- The durability of the urethane coating is somewhat questionable, as it has been attached and removed less than 10 times and the urethane coating is starting to flake off.
- I personally prefer the base tips for sound quality, but the AirPods Pro base tips are made of a single thin layer of silicone that extends all the way up to the ear tip core, which can be a disadvantage for active noise cancelling performance and can be difficult for some people to settle into.
- For those who value noise cancelling performance and fit, custom ear tips may be an option.
